Disaster Preparedness Network-Nepal (DPNet), established in 1996, stands as a key national umbrella organization dedicated to enhancing disaster management in Nepal through a unified approach involving national and international agencies. The core focus of DPNet is on fostering coordination, collaboration, learning, and sharing of experiences in strengthening disaster management practices. The organization plays a crucial role in knowledge management, capacity building, policy advocacy, and in facilitating networking among government and relevant stakeholders.
A provincial-level workshop on the Gap Analysis of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) was organized in Dhangadhi on 2nd May 2025 in coordination with DPNet Sudurpachim Province Committee. The program was chaired by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Hamal, Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Sudurpaschim Province. Honorable Minister Hira Sarki, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, graced the event as Chief Guest, while Mr. Sher Bahadur Basnet from DPNet attended as a special guest.

The meeting was held at NDRRMA’s office and brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, development partners, and civil society organizations.
Kathmandu, April 25, 2025 – Nepal solemnly commemorated the 10th anniversary of the devastating Gorkha earthquake, which struck on April 25, 2015, claiming nearly 9,000 lives, injuring over 22,000 people, and damaging around one million structures across the country. The central remembrance ceremony was held at the site of the historic Dharahara tower in Kathmandu, where Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Executive Chief of NDRRMA Dinesh Prasad Bhatta, senior government officials, and international diplomats gathered to pay tribute to the victims. A minute of silence was observed at exactly 11:56 a.m., the time the magnitude 7.8 quake struck a decade earlier, followed by the lighting of candles in memory of those lost.
