Differential Vulnerability and Resilience of Earthquake: A Case of Displaced Tamangs of Tiru and Gogane Villages of Central Nepal

The 2015 Nepal earthquake caused 8,979 deaths and 22,309 injuries, leading to various challenges including rescue, relief, and reconstruction. The study focuses on the Tamang villages of Tiru and Gogane in Rasuwa district to explore vulnerability and resilience among the ethnically homogenous group. Qualitative and quantitative methods were employed, highlighting community-led rescue and relief efforts and the importance of context-specific factors. The findings suggest that vulnerability and resilience are intertwined, influencing relocation, livelihoods, and social ties. The study recommends tailored resettlement plans considering the unique challenges faced by earthquake victims.
