Compliance to Building Codes for Disaster Resilience: Bangladesh and Nepal

Summary

This study discusses a project that investigates compliance challenges and opportunities regarding safe building codes for disaster resilience in Bangladesh and Nepal. Recent disasters have raised awareness of safe building codes, yet non-compliance persists due to socio-economic factors, resulting in the need to examine how these codes can be better adapted for disaster preparedness. Collaboration between experienced universities in these countries aims to enhance knowledge sharing, increase awareness, and establish collaborative practices to address code enforcement barriers. The study's log-frame approach outlines its rationale, assumptions, and anticipated outcomes, focusing on exploring barriers and facilitators of building code compliance.
