Riverbank Erosion Potential and Channel Stability Status of the Kodku River, southern Kathmandu Basin, Central Nepal

Summary

The Kodku River Corridor, a potential road development area in the Kathmandu Valley, has been assessed for river stability. The fifth-order river, spanning 15.86 km with a watershed of 35.67 sq. km, exhibits various characteristics leading to classifications like 'B' type, 'C' type, and 'Aa+' type streams. Entrenchment ratios suggest moderate to low entrenchment, and Level II classification identifies three stream types with tendencies of vertical or lateral instability. The river is classified as a gravelly mixed-load river based on bed material load.
