Landslide susceptibility mapping using GIS-based statistical models and Remote Sensing in the Kathmandu valley, Nepal

Summary

This study applied GIS-based statistical approaches combined with remote sensing data to assess landslide susceptibility in the Kathmandu Valley. Multiple causative factors such as slope, lithology, land use, and proximity to streams and roads were analyzed to classify susceptibility into distinct zones. The resulting maps provide an evidence base for risk-sensitive urban planning and disaster preparedness in Nepal’s most densely populated valley.
