COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Operation


This bulletin outlines the activities conducted during the COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Operation duration. Amid a surge in COVID-19 infections, the Kathmandu Valley has been under prohibitory orders until May 27, 2021, affecting public and private transport and limiting operating hours for essential stores. Similar orders are enforced in 74 of 77 districts nationwide. International flights are suspended until May 31, with exceptions for two weekly flights from Delhi. The government directs the use of all beds in key hospitals for COVID-19 patients and requests private hospitals to allocate two-thirds of their beds. The Ministry of Health identifies essential health commodities, and the Nepal Red Cross Society intensifies its COVID-19 response, activating an Emergency Operation Centre and reaching over 456,902 people through services and mobilizing 956 volunteers as of May 22, 2020.
