This report, issued by Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), documents the Rasuwagadhi glacial flood and its impacts during the 60-day period of 2080–2081 B.S. It highlights the sudden outburst of a glacial lake, which caused heavy flooding along the Trishuli River, damaging hydropower projects, roads, and bridges, and sweeping away settlements. The disaster led to 43 deaths, 19 people missing, 116 injured, and over 2,100 families affected. Rescue operations involved local responders, security forces, and air support, with hundreds evacuated and emergency relief delivered. The report also stresses the growing risks of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) in Nepal’s high mountains, the need for monitoring vulnerable lakes, strengthening community preparedness, and enhancing coordination among federal, provincial, and local governments for future disaster risk reduction and management.
