Summary

This quarterly report highlights DPNet Nepal’s key engagements from May to June 2025, focusing on strengthening provincial disaster governance, multi-stakeholder coordination, and climate resilience. On May 2, DPNet Sudurpaschim convened a DRRM gap analysis workshop in Dhangadhi, identifying capacity, data, and resource gaps, and recommending enhanced technology use, private sector engagement, and integrated local planning. On May 20, DPNet co-hosted a national consultation on the Draft Monsoon Preparedness and Response Plan (2082) with NDRRMA and Oxfam, emphasizing GESI integration, decentralized response, and legal clarity. On May 25, a Provincial Disaster Dialogue in Madhesh Province addressed heatwave risks and called for coordinated, multi-sectoral action. On May 30, DPNet and the Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction conducted a workshop in Kathmandu to refine the Humanitarian Response Training Manual, focusing on scenario-based learning, safeguarding, GEDSI, and federal alignment. From June 2–6, Nepal’s delegation, led by the Home Secretary, actively contributed to the Global Platform for DRR (GPDRR) in Geneva, highlighting Nepal’s disaster governance, climate finance advocacy, and community-based approaches. On June 20, DPNet Koshi Province Board held a strategic meeting with National Chair Dr. Raju Thapa, committing to the formation of the Provincial Platform for DRR (PPDRR), annual DRR learning events, and leading provincial observances of disaster awareness days. These engagements reflect DPNet’s sustained efforts to promote inclusive, coordinated, and risk-informed resilience building across Nepal.
