National Framework on Climate Change Induced Loss and Damage (L&D)

Summary

L&D is a local manifestation of the global phenomenon which in turn has its geneses in the historical emission of GHG by the developed countries. This study has attempted in assessing potential L&D due to climate change in Nepal. The method could help in the cost of adaptation and risk reduction efforts at national, provincial, and local levels. It will be useful for mapping the financial investments required to implement disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation actions. It also aims to strengthen policies aimed at reducing climate-induced L&D in the country and support Nepal’s second NDC and NAP. It intends to support policymakers in appreciating the challenges involved in the assessment process, the need for taking measures to develop a system that will help deal with the residual impacts of climate-related stressors that cannot be or have not been avoided.
