Characterization of Landslide and its Earthwork Solutions

Summary

This study addresses a slope with a high risk of sliding due to various factors. It emphasizes the importance of considering stability and settlement in construction design. The study involves field observation, literature review, laboratory tests, and landslide modeling to characterize the landslide and propose suitable earthwork solutions. In the case of a landslide, the slope’s stability is compromised when mobilized stress exceeds allowable stress. The study uses the Plaxis software to model the slope and calculate safety factors. By modifying the slope into a five-terrace model, the safety factor improves from 0.61 to 1.56, demonstrating the effectiveness of this earthwork solution.
