Webinar- “Managing Secondary Effects of Covid-19 Disaster and Enhancing Resilience of Community”

The webinar entitled “Managing Secondary Effects of Covid-19 Disaster and Enhancing Resilience of Community” was organized by IPTM Nepal in association with DPNet-Nepal and Centre of Resilient Development (CoRD) on 24th May 2020. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Jiba Raj Pokharel, Former Vice-Chancellor, NAST, and Former Dean, IoE. The program was initiated with the welcome remarks of Mr. Kishor Shakya Chairman, IPTM. 88 Participants from different organizations participated in the webinar.

After the welcome remarks, three experts mentioned below present as a speaker delivered their presentations/remarks. Prof. Dr. Hari Darshan Shrestha, President, CoRD delivered a presentation entitled “Managing Secondary Effects of COVID -19 Disaster and Enhancing Resilience of Community”. Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairman, DPNet-Nepal delivered his remarks focusing on COVID-19 Disaster and Response, Role of Government, and Civil Society. Mr. Damodhar Adhikari, DRM Expert presented his presentation focusing on COVID-19 Disaster - It's impact and Response

Professor Dr. Jiba Raj Pokhrel thanked presenters for their informative knowledge sharing.  Based on scientific facts, lockdown should be maintained for older people and ease lockdown for other people. There is a need to deploy security forces to monitor the illegal entry of people traveling. He emphasized employment for people returning from countries by mobilizing them in the agriculture sector and to leave the land barren. He thanked organizers and participants.
