GULMI, Sept 20 - At least ten people died due to landslide in different districts in western Nepal on Saturday.
In Palpa district, Titisara Gaha, 76, and Sabir Gaha, 12, were killed when a mudslide buried them today.
Two-year-old Prakash died when a house collapsed following a landslip in Kalikot district.
Likewise, two persons have been killed in another landslip in Lauresimal of Gulmi district today.
Landslide that occurred at around five this morning buried the house of Bal Bahadur Kumal, killing his daughter-in-law and seven-year-old Ujjal Kuwar and a neighbour. Six houses have been affected by the landslide.
Dead bodies had not been recovered till today afternoon as the landslide had not stopped.
In a separate incident, five houses have been swept away by a flood in the Ritum River of Mygdi district displacing at least 15 families.
Two suspension bridges and a canal of a micro-hydropower in the district also were sweep away have been swept away.
All roads linking the district headquarters of Myagdi district have been obstructed because of the flood.
Likewise, the Maldhunga-Beni road section of Parbat district has also disrupted.
In another incident, the Butwal-Palpa section along the Siddhartha Highway has been blocked to the flood Chidiyakhola.
Meanwhile, incessant rainfall has affected life in several districts including Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur.
Gulariya, Rajapur, Basgadi VDCs in Bardiya district have been inundated. Electricity supply in the district has been cut off due to the rainfall.
The Nepalgunj- Gulariya road section has also been obstructed.
Dhangadi Municipality and some VDCs in Kailali district have been submerged.
Electricity supply in the district has come to a halt since yesterday.
Mahendranagar Municipality and some VDCs in Kanchanpur district also are flooded.
Three houses in Dodhara VDC in the district have been swept away by the flood.
Locals of the district are in peril as the level of water is still rising due to the incessant rainfall.
Western districts of the country have experienced heavy rainfall for few days.
Monsoon which started its course from the Bay of Bengal to the state of Madhya Pradesh of India changed its direction towards Nepal resulting in heavy rainfall in the western part of the country.
