Sphere Standard Sensitization program, Sudurpaschim Dhangadhi

The Sphere Standard Sensitization program was organized for Sudur Paschim by DPNet-Nepal.  The program was chaired by Mr. Biswadip Besra, Under Secretary, OCMPM, MOIL. The welcome speech was given by Mr. Harsha Man Maharjan, Deputy General Secretary of DPNet. The presentation from MoIAL was given by Mr. Laxmi Prasad Joshi, DRR Focal person of Sudurpaschim Province. The participants of the program were  representative’s of NGO, INGO’s and Governmental bodies. The program was organized under USAID/Tayar’s Chhemata Avibridhhi (Capacity enhancement for DRR&M) on 24th Nov, 2021 at Dhangadhi of Kailali district. Altogether, 35 participants, disaggregated as 3 women and 32 men participated in the program.

Major Highlights
  • Mr. Biswadip Besra, Chairperson of the program inaugurated the program by reading the banner of the program and shared the importance of sensitization for disaster management.
  • Mr. Laxmi Prasad Joshi, DRR Focal person MoIAL presented a paper on the DRR management on the province level, its present condition and attempt of the province level government to mitigate the situation. He has highlighted the policy and laws and regulation for the management of the situation of the DRR at the province level.
  • Mr. Bishnu Timilsina, Facilitator DPNet for Sphere Standard Sensitization had facilitated the program of full day highlighting the context of Sphere standard, humanitarian charter, core humanitarian standard, protection principle, WASH, food security and nutrition, shelter & settlement and health sphere standards. He further highlighted GESI mainstreaming and humanitarian response. The pre-test and post-test for the program was also evaluated.
The participants were actively involved in the program. The discussion of the program was based on the Sphere Standard Book, its indicator system and use of the things to overcome the challenges.
Mr. Laxmi Prasad Joshi, DRR Focal of MoIAL delivered a vote of thanks and closed the program.
